For any given topic, there might be a half dozen articles, a documentary, and a Netflix original series in development to be found. It can be difficult to sift through the content to find what is worthwhile. For entertainment and for news, podcasts have become a great way to learn while multitasking, and for real estate investors, there’s a wealth of professionals in CRE that have dipped their toes into the medium. Whether your tastes are geared towards short and focused content, or towards more casual, entertaining overviews, here are a few Commercial Real Estate podcasts that are worth your time: 1. America’s Commercial Real Estate Show Hosted by Michael Bull, this podcast is the gold standard when it comes to CRE podcasts. Focused on Commercial Real Estate news, Bull has the goal of being informative while analyzing overall trends in the industry. This podcast uses industry specific language that may cause some confusion to inexperienced listeners, but the overall product is extremely digestible. Great for hobbyists and professionals, Michael Bull is clearly confident in what he knows, and his interests make him a natural in the podcast format. “America’s Commercial Real Estate Show” is a very strong choice when it comes to staying informed with CRE. Avg. length: 15-30 min. 2. Best Real Estate Investing Advice Ever The “Best Real Estate Investing Advice Ever with Joe Fairless” podcast is internally referred to as the “Best Ever” show, and mostly hosted by investing advisor Slocomb Reed, CRE and business investor Ash Patel, and “passive investment guru” Travis Watts. The “Best Ever” podcast is a daily show that usually consists of interviews with successful CRE investors. There is also a weekly show focused on passive income investing with Travis, and another weekly round table show where the three hosts meet together and broaden the scope of their discussions on CRE. Joe Fairless does host on occasion as well, but he seems to have taken a less frequent role with the show as of late. Marketed as the “world’s longest-running, daily commercial real estate investing podcast,” the “Best Ever” show has clearly nailed down its formula. This is a great show for listeners interested in learning about other investors’ journeys, and with three different hosts, listeners have a variety of styles to match their personal tastes. Avg. length: 30 min. 3. The Real Estate Guys Radio Show Originally a radio show, this podcast began in 1997 and has the most “radio” influence compared to any other shows on this list. The show is hosted by professional investor Robert Helms (the guy with the distinct “radio” voice) and Russell Gray, a financial strategist. “The Guys” focus on interpreting current events with commercial real estate in mind. Rather than an interview/testimonial format, their shows tend to widen the scope of commercial real estate, as well as focus on general advice with the occasional Q & A. This is a great show for people drawn to talk radio style. Avg. length: under 60 min. 4. Bisnow Reports With a professional delivery style, “Bisnow Reports” takes on the guise of a newsroom, with regular interviews and “reports” on events, conferences, and other happenings in the field of Commercial Real Estate. On the whole, this podcast takes on a more international perspective on CRE and gives predictionary analysis on upcoming trends. Imagine if the BBC hosted a weekly podcast specific to Commercial Real Estate. “Bisnow Reports” appeals to an audience drawn to news-style content. Lengths vary anywhere between 10 min. and 40 min. 5. The Propcast Hosted by Louisa Dickins, co-founder and director of LMRE, this show is focused primarily on Proptech, as the name suggests. Proptech, an industry term for Property Technology, refers to applied technological advances and innovations within the real estate industry. With a special perspective towards the Oceanic region, this show would appeal to anyone interested in upcoming technologies in real estate, as well as environmental concerns in Proptech (ESG, Net-Zero, sustainability, etc.). Avg. length: 30-50 min. 6. The Bigger Pockets Podcast Hosted by real estate investor and house-flipper David Greene and real estate investor / YouTuber Rob Abasolo, “The Bigger Pockets Podcast” is a show focused on giving advice to both people new to the industry and real estate veterans. The duo tries to inject humor into a more laid-back show, filled with plenty of anecdotes and tangents. Episodes feature interviews, coaching calls, and news analysis, making “The Bigger Pockets Podcast” a good source for variety. For a younger audience interested in a bit more levity intermixed with their CRE news, this is a solid show for news and entertainment. Avg. length: 60 min. 7. The Commercial Investing Show Jason Hartman, CEO of Empowered Investor, hosts a cross-disciplined, in-depth show in dire need of an updated logo. This weekly show features Jason and an industry-specialist guest diving deep into current events. Jason and his guests display an impressive array of knowledge on politics, economics, and natural events, and how they all affect commercial real estate. For an informed audience interested in fast-paced conversation surrounding Commercial Real Estate and economics, “The Commercial Investing Show” is a great listen. This show might not be the best starting point for those new to the industry, but Jason Hartman is an incredibly knowledgeable source of information and experience. Avg. length: 30-45 min.
